Do you have a prayer request that has not been answered yet? How long have you been waiting to receive an answer from the Lord for that request? I believe the longest yet to be answered prayer request is the one our Lord Jesus asked us to pray 2,000 years ago,
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matt. 9:37-38
Jesus’ request is not the harvest…it is never the harvest. The harvest is always plentiful. The prayer request then and now is for workers. The workers are always fewer than what is needed to gather the harvest.
As a church-planting ministry, we equip and send workers to the harvest fields in the Horn of Africa, North Africa, and the Middle East. We have witnessed more than 600,000 coming to Christ and more than 25,000 simple churches planted and yet we need more workers, as the harvest is plentiful. In addition to sending workers, we specialize also in mobilizing the Body of Christ for missions—to raise more harvesters!
Here in the US, we have a team that focuses on “Diaspora Missions”—to mobilize the Ethiopian and Eritrean Churches in North America for Mission. So far we have given training in Maryland, North Carolina, Colorado, Washington, California, and Kansas. Before the end of the year, we will be giving training in Toronto, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Minneapolis.
Last month 20 Ethiopian pastors and ministry leaders came to Fresno, CA from many different States for a 1-week Perspectives Intensive class. Horn of Africa Mission sponsored these leaders to take this powerful course and we expect significant involvement from these churches and ministries in Mission in the coming months and years.

This Fall we want to take a few young Ethiopians from the US and Ethiopia to India for a short-term mission trip. We believe this will open cross-cultural mission work for Ethiopians who live in North America in the future.
John Piper says, “There are only three kinds of Christians when it comes to world missions: zealous goers, zealous senders, and disobedient.” May we be and may we raise the first two kinds of Christians.
Thank you for your partnership in this work that is close and dear to God’s heart. Together we can play a role in raising more workers and be part of an answer to Jesus’ 2,000 years-old prayer request.
